High Gravity Brewing

High Gravity Brewing can boost a brewery’s capacity considerably, without having to invest in brewing house, tank or filter capacity. The idea here is to make and ferment worts with a high original wort content.

A carbonating and mixing unit is then used to set the parameters desired, such as original wort, CO2 and alcohol content shortly before bottling. The brewing house also needs less water to make the wort, so less energy is needed for heating, boiling and cooling purposes.

Water Deaeration System (WDS)

Effectively removes bound oxygen from water through desorption processes utilizing CO2 or N2 in a stripping column. With cold deaeration, residual oxygen values of
10 ppb can be achieved at a water temperature of 10 °C. Residual oxygen values of down to 5 ppb can be achieved with hot deaeration, using water heated to 72 °C.
Siemens TIA Portal is the standard control software for the deaeration system.

Residual O2 WDS hot deaeration: 5 ppb*
Residual O2 WDS cold deaeration: 10 ppb*
Column height: 6.5 - 7.0 m (depends on residual O2)
Heat recovery: 91 % (standard design)

The values apply under the following conditions:
• Water pressure: 3 - 4 bar
• CO2 pressure: 6 bar
• CO2 purity: 99.995 %

Carbonation and Blending System - Carbo Blender CBR

combines accurate control of both blending and carbonation in one skid-mounted unit, enabling the optimization of high gravity beer production with regard to both quantity and quality. Deaerated water dosing is controlled by either original gravity or alcohol measurement, and carbon dioxide (CO2) dosing by CO2 measurement. In addition, there is the option for combined CO2/O2 measurement.

The Carbo Blender performs blending on the basis of water/beer ratio control, with correction on either original gravity or alcohol content through PLC control. This ensures that the blending process is both effective and highly accurate. After blending, carbonation takes place by injecting CO2 at the inlet of a dissolution tube. The CO2 is then finely dispersed and dissolved by a set of static mixers, which are engineered to suit your specific process conditions, guaranteeing complete, bubble-free dissolving of the CO2.

Measuring range
CO2                                 2.0 - 9.99 g/l
Original Gravity               0 - 20 °Plato
O2 (optional)                   0.0 - 2,000 ppb
Material
Product-contact parts    AISI 316
Non-contact parts          AISI 314/ABS
Control Cabinet
Protection class              IP54

Carbonation Control System - Carbo Controller - CCR

is available as a skid mounted module. It consists of proven components, and includes all required piping, wiring and control systems. The Carbo Controller works by injecting CO2 at the inlet of a dissolution tube. The CO2 is then finely dispersed and dissolved by a set of static mixers, that are engineered to suit your specific process conditions.

The In-line CO2 Gehaltemeter, type AuCoMet-i determines the amount of CO2 and can immediately adjust the CO2 dosing rate if needed. The CO2 analyzer communicates directly with Pentair Haffmans’ CO2 dosing block through embedded software or via PLC control. Besides being used to control the carbonization.

Measuring range
CO2                                  2.0 - 9.99 g/l
O2 (optional)                   0.0 - 2,000 ppb
Dosing Accuracy              ± 0.1 g/l
Material
Product-contact parts    AISI 316
Non-contact parts          AISI 314/ABS
